Through YouTube, I got a wish for projects more suitable for beginners, and here is one smaller project, for which you don’t have to collect coffee bags for years. This small basket is woven from Paulig’s Brazil coffee bags, of which only 16 were used in total.

From each of the coffee bags, 2 pieces of 10,7 cm wide strips have been cut, which when folded twice are 3,6 cm wide. The strips on the upper edges of the coffee bags are woven in a monochrome yellow zigzag and the lower edges in a yellow and black textural zigzag.

The zigzag layers are connected with a curling ribbon. The slats on the upper edge of the basket are turned and the slats on the bottom edge are connected to each other.

The height of the finished basket is approx. 16 cm and the size of the base is 10,5 x 10,5 cm.

Light blue Reykjavik and pink Sydney coffee packets have been used for this basket. The material is bags left over from a multi-colored cube basket, from which the mono-colored parts of the upper parts have been used.

Triangles and corner pieces are woven from coffee bags by mixing strips of two different colors.

This small basket consists of two corner pieces and two triangles. The four parts of the basket are connected with a gift ribbon and a gift ribbon is also strung on the upper edge of the basket as reinforcement. The size of the basket is approximately 10,5 x 10,5 x 10,5 cm.

This basket consists of 20 coffee bag strips, which you can cut two/coffee bag. So you need a total of 10 coffee bags for the basket. The sides of the basket are made of 16 strips with fence weaving, and the bottom is made of four strips with hook and chain braiding. The size of the strip is 15,3 x 10,7 cm and when folded it is 3,6 cm wide. You can see the instructions in the video:

This coffee bag basket is combined with square weaving and zig zag weaving. The basket is the same size as the basket of two corner pieces and two triangles. The only difference is the turning of the edge, which makes the edge thicker and because of this a few more strips go into the basket as well. 12 strips went to the bottom of this basket and 24 to the edges.

The bottom of the basket is a plain woven square, the corners of which are also visible on the sides of the basket. The rest of the sides of the basket are formed by zig zag weaving.

The parts of the basket are connected by a gift string, which has also been used to turn the corners of the edge. You can watch the full tutorial of the basket in the video:

The size of the finished basket is approx. 10,5 x 10,5 x 10,5 cm and it is perfect for storing small items, for example in a bathroom mirror cabinet.

juhla mokka organic basket

These Juhla Mokka organic coffee bags are narrower than other Juhla Mokka bags, have a matte finish and are incorporated into burlap patterns. So using these with regular Juhla Mokka bags would be a bit challenging, so I made a small basket which consists of 10 coffee bags. The width of the coffee bags is about 14,5 cm and the strips used in the weaving are 6,5 cm wide. The folded strip is thus 1 mm narrower than the usual Juhla Mokka bags when weaving.

This small basket consists of two corner pieces and two triangles. The pattern of the basket are designed so that in addition to the background color / pattern of the coffee bag, golden and black text and a golden coffee cup are visible on the outside. All green, white and logos are omitted from the inside of the basket.

The four parts of the basket are joined with a gift ribbon and a gift ribbon is also threaded on the top of the basket for reinforcement. The size of the finished basket is about 10 x 10 x 10 cm.

As a result of a weaving experiment, a small basket was created, in which the bottom consists of a zigzag-woven piece of Juhla Mokka coffee bags and the top of two woven triangles of Presidentti coffee bags. There are square holes left on two sides of the basket. The upper edge of the basket is reinforced with metal wire to keep it in shape. The dimensions of the basket are approx. 11x11x16 cm.
